I also bought the tool(s) for R/R'ing the harmonic balancer and have found
it/them not too difficult to use. Two points though ...
1) Audi specifies some bizarre Loctite P/N (European #?) for thread locker
on the threads for installation (I couldn't find the exact stuff and paid
big bucks for a bottle of the Porsche equivalent ... anybody know why they
spec the stuff they do?)
2) The recommended tool for the bolt has an arm and accomodates a 1/2 inch
square drive torque wrench. The torque specs are pretty high.
I also found it time consuming to get all the silly belts off and on, and
of course there is the fact that the water pump is used as the cam drive
belt tensioner. IMO it isn't too tough a job for the backyard mechanic
when you have that tool.
