Hmmm, interesting...
There is a hook joint in the middle of the drive shaft, and a bearing
supporting it. The manual shows, that the bearing sits on the yoke, and the
yoke is welded to the drive shaft. In other words, the bearing could be
a $10 piece, but there is no way to take it off the yoke without cutting.
For putting it together you would need a jig to hold the pieces
accurately while welding it up. Than you would have to rebalance the shaft.
Now that was in the manual for the 84-87 4ks, and I haven't looked under
my car yet.
Another interesting piece of info: the hook joint has grease nipple, and
the manual suggest to grease the needle bearing every 15,000km or 9,300m.
Has anyone done that?
