all this special build talk about using up what's left in the parts bins
reminds me of a story...

apparently in the late 80's and early 90's there were a lot of cars assembled
this way for markets that just didn't care about the details;  they just wanted
wheels.  so there's lots of v-dubs in mexico and points south with front and
back seats of different upholstery colors, etc, etc.

at least that's how my pal at vwoa told it...
