My $0.02:

According to my mechanic (haven't investigated this myself
but this fella races VWs in SCCA Pro World Challenge) very
few shops have the correct equipment to resurface the rotors
that are used by Audi/VW properly.  He doesn't even try.

I would think that new rotors would be worth a try.
