Re: Rolls Royce and Bentley

Rolls Royce doesn't publish output specs for its performance models, but
instead maintains that it is "adequate". This is rather a case of
understatement as the power of the blown V-8 is in excess of 350 bhp,
developed at very low engine speed (around 4,000 rpm); more amazing is
the torque developed: around 550 lb/ft, which is more than adequate.

Below about 110 mph, I reckon the Turbo R or Continental R would
pretty much leave everything else on the road in its dust (except for
obvious extreme supercars). With four huge leather arm chairs, automatic
transmission, a forest of wood and all that other kit, driving one of
those cars must be a superb experience. Car Magazine rates the Turbo R
highly, whatsmore, they say that on the road it belies its size and can
be pretty frisky when necessary. Where is that cheque book?

The Rolls is vulgar, though, don't you think; the Bentley is more
subtle (slightly) and an infinitely better car both to drive and be
driven in (I'm told!). One can but dream...
