the highest output for a high compression 2.2 liter 5 non turbo w/o
catalyst and running on premium leaded was 136 bhp DIN.

when catalysts were added to this engine, compression was also lowered
from 10.0 to 8.5, output dropping from 136 to 115.  this is what
happened to the US version of the 4KQ.

later on, compression was bumped back up to 10:1 and the catalyst
losses were made up by a slight increase in capacity to 2.3 liters,
which brought things back up to 130 bhp SAE, which is pretty close to
136bhp DIN.
