Audi specifies a 15K mile service interval on the universal joint in the 
center of the propeller shaft between the center and rear differentials.  
I usually raise the rear wheel on the driver's side off the ground to 
allow access and set the tranny in neutral.  There is a standard grease 
fitting on the universal joint, but you may need to rotate the prop-shaft 
to find it.

BTW - the owner's manual for the '88 5000CSQ Wagon actually specifies 
15K km interval (less than 10K miles!).  I figure it's a typo.
