Not sure I agree with the arguments presented on the diff 50/50 question,
printed for review.   I think even with the argument presented by eliot, the
diff on either system will put the power-on throttle steer to the rears,
because with the weight shift on power, the wheels with the most (however
slight) will go to the rear.   The torsen diff is the preferred diff and does
not need the console control the early (mine) awd did, agreed.  Stud are
great for those states that are legal, but the majority don't like the idea.
 Agree with the snow/ice benefits of studs, but have a hard time with the
rain predictability, need to see that one.  Is the v8 a 5 speed or and
autobox?  

A quattro pointed (exc. Studs, I guess) beyond 45 degrees to line of travel
is performance envelope very pudently explored in any quattro system (torsen
vs locking).
