Interesting word - a typical German compound. However, it's masculine. "Bub"
is really slang, though VERY common, for a boy. It's the sort of word you
would use in parts of German to answer the question: "How many children do you
have?" - "Zwei - ein Bub und ein Maedchen".
Meister literally means "master", used in the sense of master craftsman. It
is a term of professional qualification, meaning someone who has completed a
formal apprenticeship (Lehrgang) rather than a rank such as "manager". It,
also, is masculine - der Meister. It could be feminised with an "-in" ending,
but Duden doesn't list this and I can't remember ever hearing it used. A
German searching for a word to describe a female "Meister" would CERTAINLY not
use the masculine word.
