Before buying a vehicle from a salvage yard that is intended to be registered
and licensed, be aware that the title will probably indicate a 'salvage' status
rather than new or used. This will complicate registering the vehicle depending
on each state's DMV requirements. Some states require a complete owner history
and the salvage status would always remain on the title making the vehicle
difficult or impossible to resell or use as a tradein. Now, if a rebuildable
salvage vehicle is purchased from an insurance company, then it is possible to
have the salvage status removed after passing an inspection and paying certain
fees. Just get all the facts first from your DMV and insurance company.
