Buying a 40000cs Quattro

Folks,

I'm seriously looking at this car..  140,000 miles its a "CS" -non turbo.

I've read the FAQ and some 4000 files but I'm wondering about buying a 140K 
miles car.. I won't car much about the electrical (easy to tell if its 
working) I worried about the tranny/engine/diff -etc.

How can you tell that the drivetrain is OK? will give another 40K miles of 
mild driving???????
