I have been using Mobil-1 gear lube in my 87 4k trans. for a while and it
works pretty well. For next autocross season I plan to try the Redline
MTL, as several people have rated it very high for that oh so common Audi
inability to want to change gears.(especially when cold)
As far as the Syntec, put it in the engine. It has worked very well
there for me. A motor oil doesn't have what it takes to protect a
trans., unless it is "specifically recommended" by the factory. Even
though it has a range or 5W50, it's just not enough for gears.
