I seriously doubt that changing the hose caused the leak.
The seals slowly harden due to the high temperature of the
circulating oil, along with age. ( The high pressure used
speeds everything along.)

There have been known cases where the hose going to
the brake circuit ( the hydraulic hose that has a damper
built into it ) gets blocked and causes very high back-
pressure, but this leak usually manifests itself as a
leak at the banjo connector, not at the joint halfway in
the pump body. Well actually, it could cause a leak at
the caps covering the piston ports ( the ports with
the "X"s on them ).

HA HA HA

Seriously, a good epoxy joint needs absolutely clean surfaces
and the pump surfaces have been well impregnated with oil.
All you need is one small section where the epoxy joint is
not perfect, and your leak is back ( worse than before )

My rebuild was a sort of personal challenge, and I think
the jury is still out on its long term reliability. If you
want to, I can give you some tips.
