My 84 4000 did the same thing. After replacing the controller (it
looks like a relay but is a bunch of electronics), monitoring the two
oil pressure switches while driving I couldn't find an oil pressure
problem. My pissed off solution was to put the controller on the
shelf in the garage leaving only the low pressure warning intact and
monitoring the pressure guage.
