1985 4000s knock sensor question

Can anyone tell me how to rig up an LED to flash when the knock sensor is
retarding the ignition timing?  I'm in the process of installing a set of
Mikuni 44 sidedrafts on my 1985 4000s and the intake noise from the carbs
combined with the exhaust noise from a Supertrapp with lots of discs will
make it very difficult to hear the characteristic "tinkle" of detonation.

I'm sure this can be done easily enough but instead of wading through the
schematics myself and trying to make sense of everything -- my background is
in mechanical and NOT electrical engineering -- I thought I'd first see if
anyone else has already done this and could spare me the trouble.
