Dealer cost of replacing broken spring of outside air flap
Well guess after a number of posts on a broken recirculation flap, I sent
my new (used) '91 100 back to the dealer for a fix. The service manager
knew exactly what was wrong with it. But I found the bill very interesting,
and I summary it here:
Replaced recir door spring $75.00
Parts 443271241 AU spring $ 2.10
Since the car was bought with the usual skimpy 30 day 3000 mile warranty and
Audi's used car assured 2 yr warranty, the thing was fixed without charge.
I still don't know where that spring goes in order to incur that $75 labor
cost.
So, to all weekend Audi mechanics, get the above parts and save your $75.00
I actually had to pay for my rental car $30, but that beats $75 and dirty hands.
Got a used '92 Saab 9000S to replaced my '87 Integra. The Saab is a nice car,
but I have to say, it's not an Audi. It handles a bit better than my wife's
100 but I much prefer the 100 on the interstate, much quieter and a softer
ride. The last of the old 5k/100 series definitely has softened it's ride,
almost like an American car. The Saab does have a bit more power but nothing
a 200 won't match :) only if they have more used 200's around.
