Happy Birthday

My '89 100Q turns 1 this weekend. 100K, that is.

The seats are finally getting broken in just right, and
my hand knows where every single control is automatically.

I bought the car as a lease turn-in with 45K on it almost
three years ago. Since then, it's been pretty good to me.

At purchase: Dealer replaces valve cover gasket.

50K: New Continental CH51's all around. Ahh, handling again.

73K: New Koni shocks all around. My mistake, *this* is handling.

75K: Strange problem with idle. First thought: idle stabilizer.
Nope. Tried fixing the throttle body. Nope. Look for vaccuum
leaks. Nope. Finally found it: the dashpot return spring is
slightly corroded and sticky. Remove dashpot, all is well.

80K: Radio dies. Yay! Nice new Kenwood disc player eagerly fills
in the empty space in my dashboard. Ahh, music.

90K: New Goodrich Comp/TA VR4's all around. There's that handling
again. Also new rear pads/rotors, buy front pads/rotors for
     later installation.

91K: Hit a 4" paving cliff at 70+MPH. Bye-bye front ABS sensor,
all four tires, and two wheels. Hello, insurance company.
Claim settled remarkably quickly. Lesson learned about
the cost of ABS sensors and BBS wheels.

93K: Dead fuel pump on the way home from work. Quick tow to my
local Audi shop, new fuel pump by lunch the next day.
Lesson learned about the cost of fuel pumps.

100K: Skiing at Sugarloaf! Hopefully, nothing to fix.

Only my cat shares my opinions, and she only has 35K on her clock.
