   As far as I can see, it would be OK.  The best advice is from someone who 
   has actually used the parts, so a glowing review about something you 
   haven't used is pretty much useless.  There is nothing wrong with telling 
   how great something works for you, but there are so many snake oil jobs...

As much as I would love to see "convenient" advertising, I would have to
weigh in as saying "No". (This does not mean "private" members shouldn't
call convenient sales/bargains/deals to the lists' attention!)

Once "open" to commercial advertising, there is nothing to stop wholesale
inundation of dumb advertising, and I don't want to see that happen.

Now, if someone broadcasts a request for some frizbit or other, then a
"commercial" reply listing parts, costs, etc. is warranted/welcome. Even
if the request is widely general ("I have an Audi, what can I do to make
it run like a real car?") . . .

This is explicitly [and obviously] my personal opinion.
