A while back I posted my experience in choosing brake pads. I bought the
Repcos and then compared them with new Jurids. The Jurids appear to have
two layers - the initial layer (1/8 ") looks exactly the same as the Metal
masters then it changes, it looks finer perhaps softer. The repcos are uniform
throughout. I believe they use the harder compound to help them seat. I ended
up with Jurids up front and repcos in back(new rotors all around). I'll switch
to the Repcos in front next time. After that I'll probably need new rotors and
there will be another hot compound on the aftermarket. As a side note, for the
first few months I could hear the rear brakes sing when I was braking hard,
like I
had passed some threshold and they came on.
