Frank, Frank, Frank...
(heavy sigh...) Dear Lord, how I wish it were so! But sadly, as much as I
agree with the gist of this rant (and god knows, I *love* a good rant, though
you'd never know it...), reality raises it's ugly head.
Speed limits are down, alas, but tickets are, as near as my frequently-busted
butt can testify, awarded at about the same rate as in the '50s or '60's.
(I didn't get my license until 5/'55, so I can't speak for any earlier era).
Frankly, I think it's easier to boogie today then the halcyon days of yore to
which you longingly refer (more drivers/cop in my observation, and there *was*
radar, but no radar *detectors* then...)
I do think (well, that's my story, anyway; and I'm stickin' with it...) that
there are more bozo's per square inch today than there used to be, but it
has *always* been *easy* to, ummmmm, be a contributor to the local revenue pool,
when and where ever you might want to boogie.
