Well I finally (after 6 months and untold $$$) have figured out what caused
my problem.
For all of you that have 82-84 QTC's and have an after market chip (IA), the
ignition coil of the earlier model's is not meant to handle the voltage(?)
associated with higher boost. So my mechanic replaced it with a new one and
the car is running "like a bat out of hell" all the way up to the redline. 
I might add that Ned Ritchie was good enough to call my mechanic and together
they figured it out.
