Mike,

Thanks for the info.  Your car must be a quattro, as this number is the one used
by quattro, according to Bosch representative.  He could, of course be wrong.
This part number business is a nightmare.  Almost every outfit I called gave me 
their version of the number.

        ok so it's way after lunch.... Sorry busy here today.... anyway the part
        number that is stamped on the Bosch pump is  0580 254 040 010
        underneath the numbers is also stampled gfp 322
