Re: We need a tire FAQ

Hi JIm,

> Any one give this any thought before? maybe on Porschephiles?

This thread occurs on P'philes about as often as here. In my observation,
the focus is enough different that the popular choices are generally
quite different (not too surprising, given the quite different characteristics
of Pcars and Audis). Dunlop SP sport 8000s, and to a lesser degree, D40M2s
(what I currently wear on the red toy) are well received by the more relaxed
crew (including ol' watashi here), but many 'Philes are track nuts, and their
choices reflect that, with minimal consideration given to street
characteristics. D60s aren't popular. Yoks (AVS, Aoo8Ps) BFG Comp T/A 3s,
Goodyear GS-Cs all get their share of proponents and few detractors...

P'philes, for the most part, stick with Z rated rubber.

I can say for sure, that anyone who'd suggest Goodyear GAs to 'philes should don
his/her nomex first... Having seen the results of one day at Summit Point on
fellow Qhead Mike Young's car, I'm not surprised.

I seem to recall that RE-71s are ok, but superceeded and no longer available
(at least in Z rating.), but you know about us ol' folks & fading memories...
