Hmmm.. I know that a weld could be stronger than the material itself, but 
the weld material is a rather soft metal. And since (I would assume) you 
cant anneal or heat treat a weld (due to the nature of the temperatures 
incurred while welding) it would be softer than a purposly forged cam 
material. I took metalurgy at uconn, be we never got into this stuff at 
all, so Im just speculating using things i have learned in the class.... 
the ones i didnt cut that is..  :)
