4CSQ/Rims

Help!!

My wife hit something over the weekend (which explains why I was visiting NTW inmy other post) and bent the rim on my . . . er . . . our '86 4000CS Q. I called Shokan and they quoted me a price of $150 for a good used one guanteed to be perfectly round.

Does that sound good? Does anyone recommend any other used parts suppliers?

Additional, I saw a sidebar in the "Long-Term BMW M-3" article in the April '95 Car and Driver which reported on the Wheel Collision Center of Bath, PA. The ar-ticle indicated that the shop would use heat to soften the wheel and special ma-chines to reshape it. The last step involves completely refinishing the wheel. The repair costs are said to vary between $100-$150 with the tab on the C&D 17" BMW wheel running $138.25.

I'm considering the abovementioned option because the use wheel from Shokan, al-though in good condition, *might* (according the salesperson) have a few scrat- ches here and there. Is there any feedback on this process?

Thanks in Advance,

Thomas L. Alexander III
