RE:big boost

I am experiencing  a proublem"?" with my 87 5ktq (stage II IA mod) that sound
as if it might be related to a leaking intercooler.  When starting the engine
does not spring to life like it once did. After letting go of the key(after
starting) the engine just kind of starts running slowly , like it is barely
running. After a second or so the engine idle is smooth at 800RPM. I have
notice an accumilation of dirt at the lower inboard corner of the
intercooler. Is the cap starting to blow off? Is 14.5 PSI enough to do this.
