20V timing belt changing

re: "what is the suggested change interval for the timing belt"

According to Audi, there is none. Zero. But, then again,
they are in the engine business. BMW reccomends 60K, and
I agree. re: 10V vs 20V, remember that on a 10V engine, a
broken belt means, well, a broken belt. On a 20V motor, it
generally means broken valves, etc.

Replacement on a 90 20V is quite laborious. Remove the pulley,
the radiator, and a bucha brackets. I gave up and had my
mechanic help me out (gota get to work!). About $300 later,
all was well, including all new accessory belts and hoses
(good idea once you are in there).

Why, oh why, does Audi ignore the lowly chain?
