Sorry, you probably did say vanes.  In either case, what I saw (looking from
under the car, into the hose inlet on the front of the turbo unit) looked to be
like the backside of a pulley.  Big round solid metal thing.  I didn't see
anything else, no fins no vanes no splines.  Maybe I should have rotated
something?  The way I saw it, the inlet I was looking at sucked air in the
Turbo unit's inlet from the intercooler, then did a 90 degree turn into the
face of this pulley looking thing.  Don't know what happens after that.  It did
look clean in there though!  What was I looking at?  The inlet opening
paralleled the backside of this pulley looking number, then turned right into
the face of the backside of the pulley thingy.  Um, do I have something no-one
else does?
