Subject: 90 Quattro Coupe
I need you, the experts, opinion. I have someone interested in
purchasing my1990 Quattro Coupe. It has 63,400 miles, all the
options, which I think is standard, and is in fairly good shape.
It could use 2 new headlight brackets. (One busted when I bought
it, one I busted when I clipped a snow bank). What is my car
worth? I have been looking at trading it in on an Eaglon Talon
AWD and the local delarships (Central PA) only want to give me
$9000 or $10,000 for it. Which I feel is TOTALLY ridiculous.
They don't "want" my car, they feel that they will not be able to
sell it. If anyone knows anything about Audi's they should be
happy to get it. Anyway, I was thinking of asking $14,000-
$14,500 if I sold it. Is this fair? Too high? Too low? I would
love to hear anyone's opinion on this. Thanks.

Cindy: I also own a 1990 Coupe Quattro. I paid about $13K for it May of
last year. Car has everything but the cold weather (Heated Seats, Door
locks, and Washers). Book value was also about $13k - so figuring that
you intend to trade the car $9-10k probably is about ball park (nomex
on).
Regarding your crash damage - Headlight brackets are about $100 from
Carlsen Audi (800) 523-2408 ask for Linda. Tell her that you're from the
quattro internet list, and she'll give you a nice discount from the
usual dealer gouge. Note the headlights are also over $100- I hope that
they don't have to be replaced.
The real question is: why the compelling need to trade in the coupe -
according to many members on the list, audis don't get broken-in until
100k miles ! Granted the Talon is a nice coupe, but the build quality
cannot compare, and the Coupe has alot more room! The longer you own an
audi, the more you appreciate the details...
Yes, I am biased. And experienced in headlight repair.
