Re: Flakey Speedometer, One more time :-(
I'm worried now ... first the talk about Satan on the quattro net, and now
a $666 repair. Guess I'd better start shopping for an ovloV! ... wonder
if I can get an 850 Wagon with a Hurst shifter?
I'd recommend that you do what I suggested before ... hook up your SunPRO to
the speedo signal, either at the instrument cluster or the sending unit.
hook it up in such a way that it can be used for an extended period. Famil-
iarize yourself with the normal tach (&/or duty cycle) readings while it is
operating normally so that you can note how (or if) it changes when the
malfunction occurs. You have replaced the drive gear, sending unit and p.c.
board in the instrument cluster, so assuming that one of these has not failed
again the only things remaining are the wiring and the speedo itself. I
believe that you checked out the wiring too. Have you been noticing the left
front wheel locking up when the speedo is acting funny?
Feel free to contact me if you need more info or want to bounce anything off
me (figuratively of course).
