Re: 5000 safety questions
I must say that I can't quite understand all of this thread about what the
procon-ten system is going to do to the car/dash/etc. Keep in mind that
the system is passive and only comes into effect when the engine is moving
relative to the body of the car! I must say that I haven't studied the
differential cost of repair based on whether the car has the system or not,
but my primary concern would be the safety of the occupants! (Hey, with the
blue book values for the car being as low as they are the insurance company
is going to total the car anyway).
Anybody seen the recall on airbags over the past few days? Don't remember
which of the big 3 (pretty sure it wasn't Chrysler) has a recall out on some
new car airbags that do not deploy properly, causing burns. Yeah ... I'd
like one of those things in my car! It is probably still true that the
severity of the burns is less than the injuries it prevents. Give me a good
roll cage and 5 point seatbelts! ... and a automatic fire extinguisher sys-
tem, a helmet, Nomex suit, 500+HP AWD drive train ...
