Vendors on the Net

Several posts recently have dealt with vendors and quasi-commercial
postings to this list. Here are a few suggestions:

Vendors can set up their own listservers or Home pages for
internaughts to access. Primenet.com is one supplier for commercial
postings on the Internet. Items of broad interest could be re-posted
to this, or other lists, as part of an FAQ. (The Quattro HTML home
page would be a good location.)

Vendors could post directly to this list with technical information,
or answers to specific questions that their products address. To much
sales hype and the vendor would hear it from list members. Hopefully,
criticism from list members would help regulate the content of the
postings...vendors would not want to anger a group of hard core
enthusiasts who are often the source for information and referals,
particularly to new Audi owners, such as myself.

I have been impressed with the high level of technical expertise of
the subscribers of this list. If a vendor claim is invalidated by
independent testing and use by listmembers, that vendor would be asked
to quit posting to this list. More likely, he or she would be laughed
off the list and would never return...

Personally, I would like vendors, and manufacturers, have some level
of participation in this list, particularly when it comes to obtaining
information and technical expertise. Vendors, such as Carlen Audi in
California, have been of good service to Audi, and Internet,
afficiandos. If they would want to post some information out here, I
     would like to see it.
