Re: '88 TQC throttle switches



On my car ('88 5000CSTQ) it is definitely a switch, not a
pot. Furthermore I had the same problem you have - open
circuit even at WOT. I opened up the switch (be careful, it's
glued) to find the contact is made by 2 springy bits of metal
being pushed together, one of them has a tiny metal ball on it
to act as the contact. The other piece of metal was corroded, 
preventing circuit closure. Sanded it clean, and now the full-
throttle switch works.

I believe what it actually does is enrich the mixture a bit, to
give a bit more power. Maybe it also changes the ign. timing.
On my car the difference with the switch working from before
I fixed it is minimal.
