I also had a similar problem on my '90 200T. It turns out that the check 
valve for keeping the FI pressurized when the engine was off failed, making 
it hard to start until it got repressurized. I believe that turning the key 
on and off a number of times (without cranking the engine) is the best way 
to pressurize again. Could be wrong about that. Good luck.
