Re: Wheel balancing and weights
Well, rather than tell you the whole long, drawn out story, I
guess I'll just ask the simple question: Is there a difference in
Factory/Dealer balancing weights from Audi compared to the hammer on type
that one gets at the local tire/rim shop? I had the cheap pound on type
Yup.
Most "alloys" are "designed" to use the stick-on kind -- the alloy/rim is
just too soft (and not shaped right, besides) for those damn pound-on
weights. I've never (knock on wood) seen any tire/shop that didn't have
both, although one once charged me a "premium" (extra dollar, I think)
for the "fancy" stick-on doodads . . .
If you have steel wheels, the pound on type are fine. They definitely
should not come off on their own accord!
