This also alters the Ackerman geometry.  I modified a pair of 4000 struts a
few years ago (primarily to increase tire clearance but also to increase the
Ackerman and minimize bump steer) and they worked well.  Unfortunately, they
weren't legal for either of the SCCA classes I was competing in at the time
and they're now sitting on a shelf in the back of my shop.  Hmmm...
