The problem with your radio is that it is wired wrong. You must have
never owned a German car before! All German cars I have encountered
allow you to turn your stereo on without the keys in the ignition -
German cars don't have an accessory position. The person that wired up
your stereo tied it in with the ignition switch, which is the wrong way
to wire it. The is a lead coming to the stereo that has a constant power
supply, wire your power lead from your stereo to this and you'll be
set!!! If you don't know which wire it is, use a volt meter to test for
voltage in each of the wires (don't have your keys in the ignition).
Congratulations on the step up from an American car to an Audi!!
