Back when R1s were not so stiff, my co driver found that they
worked with higher pressures than normal, so don't be too alarmed.

When you are dealing with very stiff shocks, they tend to
augment the springs a little, adding to the overall stiffness of the
car. Your front end is bouncing against the shocks. I found the same
thing - the shocks need not be too stiff.
Are you going to the Saginaw Cen-Div (or did I already miss it?)
