Pulling th instrument panel on a 5ktq is really not as big a deal as going
from below....  The wheel  comes off then there is that funky band screw that
holds the stalks, then 2 screws hold the bottom of the dash panel....  Oh,
about 5 min (after the first time) and a lot less swearing than pulling off
the lower panels and reaching blind to the sockets from below.......  And
having done it both ways, take the panel out, replace all the lites (heck one
of the few $1.00 parts you'll find on an audi) if you think you never want to
do it again.....  The black base ones are the dash dimming lites the white
base ones are 2w and about 4.00 ea, and rarely need attention (they are for
the warning lites)....
