V8 To buy, or not to buy.
I posted a few comments about the V8 that I have
owned for 2 years. I got it used with 47k on the
clock. There have been a couple of dumb (my opinion)
things that have gone wrong that I did not think a
$48,000 car should experience but then my sample
size, (1), is small.
The right distibutor went out (still had the left
one for limp home mode) and the turn signal/headlight
switch failed on the headlight mode.
It now has 87.5k on it and is really doing fine
other than the couple of failures mentioned. DO replace
the timing belt at 60k...See recent postings.
One thing about the engine/transmission management
computers is that sometimes you put your foot down
(WOT...arr,arr,arr...) and there is NO power. I mean
there is nobody home in the engine room!. Then it gets
going and look out, it screams. The A/C hogs the low
end torque at low rpm as per the recent postings
about the cut-out switch and it is a little annoying.
I have the automatic but I drive in the idiot prone
Seattle traffic which is another whole story...

Gentlemen,
Recently a bunch of V8's have been turning up around MA for sale well under
$15K. I'm getting seriously tempted. I'm aware of a black/grey sport seat
90K mi for around $11K. I know a couple of you out there have them. I
knopw to beware of the front brakes, but are there any other problems? What
are maint costs I'll incur? Are there any performance upgrades available?
Anything you know will be appreciated!
TIA
