5kCSTQ: Radiator cooling fan questions

Just noticed that the radiator cooling fan on the '88 5kCSTQ started
making a slightly unusual sound, which sounds suspiciously like bear-
ings.  While looking into it I noticed what looks like a cooling port 
on the back of the motor.  There was no cooling hose attached to this 
... is there supposed to be some cooling duct to the fan motor?  Second 
question; Is there any possibility of rebuilding the motor, or is re-
placement my only option?
