Increasing HP w/diffrent turbo

I know there has been a lot of talk in the past about using diffrent turbos
to increase the HP of audi turbo cars.  Well I am ready to go for it but was
a little surprised at the cost that Ned quoted me.  After telling him that I
was looking for @280bhp (already have IA stage II box) he went into great
detail as to what turbo he recomended with a price of $1695.00.  I can not go
quite that high(1/5 the price of the car is alot).  I'm sure some of you know
a better way(i.e. cheeper).  What would a S4 turbo do for me, what about EH
the stock K26.  Fellow Audi power monger help me out.
