Relying on horsepower stats vs. torque stats (as the recent string indicates)
is a common error.  The second most common error is obsessing on 0-60 times.
 Audi clearly ignores these numbers when it sets gear ratios (as it should).
 My '91 90quattro 20V has a feeble 0-60 time (something like 9+ sec), but
that is because 2nd gear only gets you to about 50-55, and the 2-to-3 shift
necessary to get to 60 kills momentum.  [Is it my imagination, or is there a
huge gap between 2nd and 3rd?]

Most cars with great 0-60 times are getting there in 2nd gear.
