Re: help the listmeister out
Dan,
I'm not sure how much clearance is there in front of the timing
cover on the 90 as compared to the 5000, but here's something that might
help. You'll need to do some custom tooling here. Take a 6 mm allen key
and cut or grind down its *short* leg so that its only about 1/2 inch long.
Now slip a 6mm deep socket with an extension on the *long* leg and use
the contraption to remove the bolt. This is what the master mechanic at
my Audi dealer does. I have one such ground-down 6 mm allen key in my
toolbox; needed it to open the bolts on the clutch master cylinder.
I have attempted an ascii representation of what I described. You may not
need the socket and extension on the long leg depending on the amount
of space you have.

A bench grinder is best for shortening the allen key leg. If you don't
have one, any machine shop will do it for you. Alternatively, use a
hack saw and file the rough edges smooth again.
Hope this helps.
