OK, group, if you folks who have had problems with trannys will email
me directly at <a-powell1@tamu.edu> I will write letters for NHTSA
and Audi and go after them on this issue. My experience is that we
have absolutely NOTHING to lose...and the last thing Audi wants is
NHTSA involved. So I'm just PISSED enough to do it.
IF YOU HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMW WITH SHIFTING INTO REVERSE on a
5000, 100 or 200.....email me your full name and mailing address, &
phone. I'll draft a letter and let you see it before it goes
anywhere.
Vikram sent the following - let's you and me email each other,
Vikram.....

David, what I would do is change that trans. fluid NOW, put in
synthetic, and do another 2-3 changes at 10K intervals to gradually
get rid of the residual petro-oil in the transmission which will
remain in the torque converter after the main fludi is changed. Than
change trans. fluid at 30K miles, max. Our 1984 5K-T never had a
problem. I hope yours doesn't either...but I suggest preventive
measures.
But then...I've got a $1500 hit to the wallet, so I'm sensitive on
the subject......
