Internal disc brakes are also known for their
heat problems, due to lack of fresh air supply.
Many internal disc systems were superceeded
by regular disc-in-wheel setups on older production
sporting models, some Italian makes come to mind.
Internal discs were not very successful in
commercial applications. Special ducting and
body/floorpan design is required to cool them
properly, liming internal discs to racing applications
where proper airflow can be supported. Looks
good on paper though, as did Audi's internal calipers.....
