MAC-01, vs. 02, vs. 03

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post since I am officially on the list.
I have had a "83 TQC and a "84 for about four years.
I do almost all my own work and have been inside most system
at some point. Latest project, resurecting the ignition
system on mt TQC. I did a distributor rebuild, but the new
Hall sensor mounts at TDC. I had to rekey the shutter to
60 degrees before TDC to get it to work. Saves about $300
compared to new distributor ($500 at dealer prices). Before
that I reworked my Coupe front suspension using (gasp!) KYB
struts. I like them, and only $45 per strut.

I promise to post the AMP part numbers for the ECU connectors,
hopefully tommorow if I can remember the data sheets.

My question to the group is this:
My car is sn 00565, and has a early MAC-01 ECU. The archives
hinted at higher versions having dynamic knock sensing. Do the
higher rev boxes, ( >= MAC-03 ?) have this feature and if so
are they able to be fitted to the early cars like mine? Has anyone
thought of combining a knock sensor unit and Ned's earlier external
advance programming to go dynamic closed loop on the ignition advance?

I look forward to learning from all of you, and hope I can return the
favors with info and such. BTW, I have factory service manuals for
the 83 QTC. If you want copies send email directly to:
