I think I would see if I could get it to do it idling in the driveway.
Sounds like an electrical/thermal cyling problem.  Are you familiar with
what burn marks are already in you fuse blocks?  Pulling them one at a 
time and inspectingis a GOOD idea.  I regularly rotate the fuses in 
their holders to maintain good contact.  They oxidize. You could be doing
lots of diagnostics with a DMM and a wiring diagram.  Unfortunately
with an intermittant, you have have the problem before you can see it.
