Not sure what you mean by "didn't fit".
Didn't fit the wheels or didn't fit in the rear
wheel wells once mounted on the wheels.....
My 225-50-15s are on the stock OEM
late-model ur-Q Ronal R9s in 15x8". The
stock tire was the P7R in 215-50-15, so
the 225-50-15 is only marginally larger.
The 225s did contact the inside of the
WWs when autocrossing, but not in a
big way, never hit on the street though.
I would guess that 225-50-15 tires are *WAY*
too wide for 6.5" rims, the tread and sidewalls
will be very distorted and you will get a lot
of sidewall flex, poor turn-in, etc. This distortion
of the sidewalls might be what caused the
clearance problem in the rear. Also, only the
late-model (>= '85) ur-Qs have the new, larger,
wider rear valence and factory rolled inner
fender lips to allow fitment of the 15x8s and
the 215-50-15 P7Rs. Older ur-Qs have a
narrow rear valence and the protruding inner
rear fender lips.
