I changed the H3 bulb on the built-in foglights og my 92 S4 with a 85 watts
H3 from PIAA since the car was almost new.
I have noticed significant improvement in day to day  night driving and have
no problem at all (stock wiring).  I have also added apair of round 4 inch
clear foglights in the lower grill area which even improve further the
illumination. 

However compared to the stock HID Litronic headlights on my 993 turbo my S4
current set-up even with all of the lights on does not even come close.
 Those HID light really lights up the road.
